This privacy policy explains how the Cannock Islamic Centre uses any personal information we collect about you
when you use our website.

Data available to website provider
Your data may be available to our website provider to enable us and them to deliver their service to us, carry out
analysis and research on demographics, interests and behaviour of our users and supporters to help us gain a better understanding of them to enable us to improve our services. This may include connecting data we receive from you on the website to data available from other sources. Your personally identifiable data will only be used where it is necessary for the analysis required, and where your interests for privacy are not deemed to outweigh their legitimate interests in developing new services for us.  Our website provider will not transfer your data to any other third party, or transfer your data outside of the EEA.
 They will store your data for a maximum of 7 years.

What information do we collect about you?
We collect information about you when you make a donation, sign up as a fundraiser, book a place on a course or
event, request our counselling service, buy a product, sign up for the latest news, apply for employment or to
become a volunteer, or make an enquiry. The information we collect about you is used to process this. If you agree, we may contact you about activities, services or campaigns we think may be of interest to you.
We never pass on or share your personal information to others, unless legally required to do so.
We will keep your personal data unless you ask us to delete it. If you ask us to delete your personal data, we will do so provided it is not within any period for which the data must be held due to accountancy or any other rules.

 

Marketing
If you have consented to receive information, you may opt out at a later date. You have a right at any time to stop us from contacting you about activities, services or campaigns. If you no longer wish to be contacted about activities, services or campaigns, you may contact us in any of the ways given at the end of this notice.

 

Access to your information and correction
You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. If you would like a copy of some or
all of your personal information, please contact us in any of the ways given at the end of this notice.
We want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date. You may ask us to correct or
remove information you think is inaccurate.

We keep our privacy policy under regular review. This privacy policy was last updated on 8 October 2024.

1. Your personal data – what is it?
Personal data relates to a living individual who can be identified from that data.  Identification can be by the
information alone or in conjunction with any other information in the data controller’s possession or likely to come
into such possession. The processing of personal data is governed by the General Data Protection Regulation (the
“GDPR”) and the Data Protection Act 2018 (pending royal assent).

Cannock Islamic Centre is the data controller (contact details below).  This means it decides how your personal data is processed and for what purposes.

Cannock Islamic Centre complies with its obligations under the “GDPR” including the principles:

We use your personal data for the following purposes: –
 To enable us to provide a voluntary service for the benefit of the public in a particular geographical area as
specified in our constitution;
 To administer membership records;
 To fundraise and promote the interests of the charity;
 To manage our employees and volunteers;
 To maintain our own accounts and records (including the processing of gift aid applications);
 To inform you of news, events, activities and services running at CANNOCK ISLAMIC CENTRE
 To provide funeral information
 To provide education services including Quran memorisation and recitation
 To comply with legal and regulatory obligations
 For the efficient and effective management of CANNOCK ISLAMIC CENTRE
 CC TV is utilised for security purposes

4. What is the legal basis for processing your personal data?
 Explicit consent of the data subject so that we can keep you informed about news, events, activities and
services and keep you informed about diocesan events.

 Processing is necessary for carrying out legal obligations in relation to Gift Aid or under employment,
social security or social protection law, or a collective agreement;
 Processing is carried out by a not-for-profit body with a political, philosophical, religious or trade union
aim provided: – o the processing relates only to members or former members (or those who have regular contact
with it in connection with those purposes); and o there is no disclosure to a third party without consent.


5. Sharing your personal data
Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be shared with other members, law
enforcement, where there is a legal and/or regulatory obligation. Your data may be shared with service
providers such as cloud storage.


6. How long do we keep your personal data?
We keep data for no longer than necessary. Membership records are retained for as long as you remain a
member. Education records are retained for as long as you continue to use the services provided by
CANNOCK ISLAMIC CENTRE or until any outstanding fees have been paid in full.


7. Your rights and your personal data
Unless subject to an exemption under the GDPR, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data: –
 The right to request a copy of your personal data which CANNOCK ISLAMIC CENTRE holds about you;
 The right to request that CANNOCK ISLAMIC CENTRE corrects any personal data if it is found to be
inaccurate or out of date;
 The right to request your personal data is erased where it is no longer necessary for CANNOCK ISLAMIC
CENTRE to retain such data;
 The right to withdraw your consent to the processing at any time
 The right, where there is a dispute in relation to the accuracy or processing of your personal data, to request
a restriction is placed on further processing;
 The right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioners Office.

8. Further processing

relevant purposes and processing conditions. Where and whenever necessary, we will seek your prior consent to the new processing.

What are some examples of obtaining consent?
There can be several examples of this and the most common examples are
listed below. Remember that the consent needs to be separate, distinct, plain

Nikah Consent:
I Aisha Siddique d/o Abdullah Siddique grant my consent to Cannock Islamic
Centre to store my personal details for the purpose of conducting my Nikah
(Islamic marriage). The information being collected is only for the purpose of
verification of Nikah and I do not authorise it to be used for any other purpose.

Passport verification/attestation:
I Abdullah Omar (DOB 01/01/1969) grant my consent to Cannock Islamic
Centre to store my personal details for the purpose of attesting my passport.
The information being collected is only for the purpose of verification of my
passport application and I do not authorise it to be used for any other purpose.
I also consent for this information to be provided to the Home Office and UK
Border Agency (if and when requested).

 

Madrasa/Islamic School:

I Aisha Siddique d/o Abdullah Siddique grant my consent to Cannock Islamic
Centre to store personal details of my son Huzaifa Patel attending Madrasa
(Cannock Islamic Centre). I have provided his birth certificate as a proof of his
age and as a proof of me being his mother. I consent to  (Cannock Islamic
Centre) storing his personal details for the purpose of his Islamic education and
all administrative activities related to the school. I do not authorise it to be used
for any other purpose.

 

Email Lists:
I Aisha Siddique d/o Abdullah Siddique grant my consent to Cannock Islamic
Centre to store my personal details for sending me emails including marketing
emails and updates. I have provided my personal data for the purpose of
receiving emails from the Mosque. I do not authorise it to be used for any other
purpose.
